2019 Zenaida Cellars Wanderlust

50% Grenache, 35% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre

Wanderlust is a Rhone varietal blend from Paso Robles vineyards. The fruit was cold macerated and allowed to ferment using specialized yeast isolated from the Rhone valley. The lots were aged in fine grain French oak barrels and puncheons for 15 months. The blend exhibits dark intense ripe fruit and a floral bouquet with a hint of sage. A juicy wine with flavors of black currant, strawberry, blackberry, and cherry cola. Tannins are mellow and smooth, followed by leather, vanilla and toasted oak.

2019 Zenaida Cellars Grenache

100% Grenache

Our Grenache is planted on a high northwest facing ridge at 1600 ft elevation. The soils are thin and characterized by shallow layers of calcium and limestone formations. The fruit is de-stemmed, fermented in small open top fermenters and aged in select 500-liter French oak puncheons for 18 months. The resulting wine gives a bouquet of strawberries and, violets. Sultry and smooth on the palate with fresh berries, cola and leather notes

2019 Zenaida Cellars Estate Syrah

100% Syrah

A blend of 2 blocks on the home vineyard. “Hell Block” on the western edge of the ranch is the most exposed and generally experiences the coldest Spring and Fall conditions of the vineyard plantings. “Hillside Block” with tighter spacing, well drained, thinner more gravelly soils help to restrict vigor in the plant. These conditions help produce smaller more concentrated berries with a higher acid content. The wine is aged 18 months in French oak barrels and 500L puncheons. The Estate Syrah has floral accents followed by dark fruits, blueberry, blackberry and roasted meats, cola, leather and black pepper. Overall, earthy and fruit forward with smooth yet moderate tannin.

2019 Zenaida Cellars Mourvedre

100% Mourvedre

Our Mourvedre is grown on a southwest facing river bench vineyard in the Templeton Gap district, this district is considerably cooler than the other districts in the AVA and characterized by the most drastic day-to-night temperature swings; up to 50 degrees from peak to low warm days and cool nights. A delicious blend of dark fruit and smoked meats. Ripe blackberries, blueberries with a hint of sage herbs and violets. Medium to soft tannins on the finish.
